Search Optimisation – Backlinks

Written by adminCGT on .

Four pointers to help drive traffic to your website

1. Study Your Competitor’s Links

Study your competitor’s links and make a list of all the relevant trusted websites from where they are getting backlinks and see if these sites will link to yours. The key here is to ensure that you select authoritative backlinks in place i.e. ones from trusted and popular sites and not backlinks from link directories or link popularity schemes, as the major of search engines can penalise sites which use such schemes.

2. Partially Matching Anchor Text for Links

Google can penalize websites that have too many backlinks using the same anchor text. So try to use partially matching anchor text while building backlinks for your website or blog targeted pages.

3. Blog Commenting & Forum Signature Linking

Guest blogging on relevant forums and commenting on existing posts, provided the comments are relevant and useful to the readers, can help drive traffic to your site where there is a do-follow link to your website. Some forums do allow outbound hyperlinks in a member’s signature. However, the downside is that most comments on blogs turn into a no-follow link, although of course, if the blog is well thought out it will get clicked on by other readers.

4. Article Publishing

Consider creating articles relevant to your keywords/keyphrases and submit these to selected article publishing websites in order to get additional backlinks for your website.
