Funding for Training and Courses

 

There are currently no specific schemes to help individuals fund or subsidise skills learning or funding for training and courses. However, there are from time to time schemes available and occasionally for those unemployed or been made redundant, it may be possible to seek from your local jobcentre. They will sometimes fund careers training and learning in specialist areas for those long term unemployed.

ou can apply if you are 18+ and currently working in the UK screen industries, or actively trying to work in the UK screen industries. You must be eligible to work in the UK and have a UK bank account.

The Creative Skillset Diversity Fund (England) provides funding for training for employees and freelancers residing in England who are under-represented in the workforce and can show they have worked in a paid, professional capacity over at least one year in the creative industries.

Individuals working in games, fashion and textiles, advertising and marketing communications, publishing, VFX, radio, animation, interactive media, facilities, photo imaging, TV and film are eligible to apply.

Applicants may apply for funding to attend any course that they can demonstrate will benefit their career progression. You can choose a recognised training provider or search for the Creative Skills database.

The fund’s aim is to help people who may have worked in their industry for some time but have hit barriers to their own development or progression.

Examples of types of training include but are not limited to:

  • Mentoring and coaching
  • Online courses
  • Masterclasses and workshops
  • Bespoke hourly training tailored to your needs

Applications for funding have to be completed online through the Creative Skillset website. 

According to information published on the Gov.UK website, there is a range of government support available to businesses, through advice, guidance, information, grants, training and other services.
